Mechanical Designer

Alternative Engineering Inc. designs and manufactures unique machines and prototypes with two goals; crafting the ideal solution for our customers’ needs, and, creating innovative products to solve issues in the automation and distribution industries.  We take pride in developing efficient, lean, quality solutions for our customer’s challenges and it shows in the work we do.

Currently we are looking for a qualified mechanical designer to join our growing team.  This person will be his or her own team, owning the process of creating a design from scratch.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience designing conveyor systems and custom automation
  • Proficient in Solid Works or other 3D CAD programs
  • Capable of taking a design from the customer’s specs through concept, prototype and final rendering with complete manufacturing drawings and 3D models
  • Strong visualization skills
  • General engineering calculation skills
  • Strong understanding of machine shop, fabrication and assembly process
  • Highly creative

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to calculate size and select drivetrain and fluid power components (such as sizing electric motors using weights and speeds) to calculate horse power requirements.
  • Understand basic controls components such as sensors, cables, disconnects, valves, manifolds and junction boxes
  • Experienced in selecting and purchasing components
  • Strong internet research skills

Saw Operator

Currently we are looking for a saw operator to join our growing team.

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
  • Read tape measure (inch system- metric is a bonus)
  • Read blueprints
  • Drive a Hi – Lo
  • Operate Over Head Crane
  • Has a valid Driver’s License

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience in machine shop environment
  • Experience with different types of metals
